Silencer
A Silencer is a device for reducing the amount of noise emitted by a machine such as an internal combustion engine. The noise reduction is due to destructive interference in the silencer. It is also known as Muffler.
Characteristics of Motorcycle Silencer
- It is installed along the exhaust pipe of the engine.
- Usually, it contains a series of baffles to absorb sound.
- It is usually slung under the rear of the vehicle.
- It forces engines to work harder in the process of pushing exhaust gas through them.
Types of Silencer
There are two types of silencers used for two-wheelers
- 2-stroke silencer
- 4-stroke silencer
Functions of Motorcycle Silencer
The main purpose of the silencer is to absorb sound released by the internal combustion of an engine making it comfortable for the rider and others as well.
Maintenance of Motorcycle Silencer
- Silencers should be replaced if they are worn or damaged.
- It is important to find out why the silencer is saturated with oil. It can be the result of a clogged oil return channel or incorrect drum rotation.

When you buy a bike don't endup with just getting the bike keys and start roaring, first get your gears like Helmet, Gloves, Protective gear, or at least a leather jacket, Shoes, elbow,ankle & Knee guards to protect your joints. I know what you are thinking now by reading the above line but its for your safety only. A helmet is a must to protect you. the other things are up to you it's your wish to get those but a helmet is really must. I would suggest you to wear a jean pant and jacket so that you can escape from scratch while met up with an accident. No one know what will happen in the next second so be aware and conscious of riding bikes. This is the type of Off Road Helmets. This kind of helmets are not coming with glasses but you can get the glass for paying more money. These helmets are also available in chennai. It cost from 1200Rs in chennai.
These helmets are On Road Type helmets and are easily available in all over chennai. It does cost nearly 1300Rs. yes this type of helmets are having a special air flow layer that helps in air in take and also in aerodynamic while driving.
This is also of the same type. Look at the graphic stickers used in this helmet. Most of the chennai bike riders like to do stickers of different type than others.
This one is the cheep one available in chennai and is easily available on road side but i am not sure about the safety of using these kind of helmets available on road side but this is where i got from a standard shop and this helmet came with a ISI that makes us to believe that we are getting the good product.
This one is the Jet Type Helmet and it is mostly used along withe the bikes like choppers (ie) Bullet like heavy weight bikes and also with scooters like Streaks, Activa etc..,
